Everyone knows the first book by either calling it Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone or Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. My question is when you refer to the first book in the best book series of all time?

From what I understand, the original title was Philosopher's Stone, but when it came to be released in the United States, JK Rowling's publishers brought to her attention that "philosopher" may turn American children away from the book (or they may not fully understand what the word is, since it is not as widely used here) - so she chose it to be titled Sorcerer's Stone here.
I live in the US, so I term it as Sorcerer's Stone, though I am aware of it's alternative name. I like both.

I got extremely confused when I first started reading, I believe that my school's library had both the Sorcerer's Stone copy and the Philosopher's Stone. >.< That wasn't very smart of them lol. I read both, but I realized pretty quickly that they were both the same. I think the first one I picked up was the Philosopher's stone, so I call it by that... Both names are nice though.

Well, I don't live in the US, although I visit there a lot. I bought in as the Philosopher's Stone, so I call it that. Everyone at school calls it that though, so I started getting really confused. I don't understand why they changed them, but they're both pretty nice...so...
